Curriculum Includes:

Handling verbal confrontation
It is important to be able to maintain control in a verbal
confrontation, and to understand how to de-escalate the situation, yet
keep your options open if a higher level of force is needed.

Empty hand defensive techniques
This is the most commonly needed skill in security occupations, yet
ironically is often ignored in defensive tactics courses. This course
covers empty hand defensive tactics extensively.

Defensive tactics against weapons
This course covers empty had defenses against knife, baton and gun
assaults, as well as weapon-to-weapon
. It is very important to
understand how to minimize the risk of injury when facing an assault
with a weapon.

Pressure points and joint locks
Learn highly effective joint locking and pressure point techniques for
maximum control of an assailant with minimal risk of injury to all
involved.

Reflex development drills
We teach simple and practical hand drills that will enable the security
professional to develop reflex skills that are appropriate to each
situation. Enhancing reflexes allows the security professional to
respond to all situations naturally, without having to stop and think,
thus maintaining a higher level of control.
The UMAA Defensive Tactics for Security Professionals
course is designed to prepare security professionals to be
able to respond effectively to possible assaults with a
comprehensive system of defensive tactics that are
designed to minimize the risk of injury to all involved, and
to de-escalate the situation whenever possible. UMAA
defensive tactics have been proven in practice, and have
been used by police officers, security personnel and
ordinary civilians when facing assault.
This course will give the security professional a foundation
in principles, methods, training drills and real-life
applications of practical defensive tactics. All skill sets
utilized by the security professional in a confrontational
situation will be enhanced by this course.

Security employers will benefit from reduced liability costs
as their employees learn to minimize the risk of injury to
themselves and others on the job.
